Warren Shire is situated in central western NSW and has a highly productive and diverse agricultural industry, excelling in the production of sheep, wool, cattle, grain and cotton. Irrigation for farming is sourced from the Macquarie River.

The Shire is known for the Macquarie Marshes and boasts many internationally renowned Merino Studs.
