Parkes Shire is located in central west NSW. The Shire boasts a diverse economy with strong industries including transport, mining, health care, tourism, agriculture and public administration.

The area is the home of the CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope. The Parkes Elvis Festival and Trundle ABBA festival are popular annual event.
