Maitland City is located in the Lower Hunter Valley of NSW, situated on the Hunter River.

The area boasts rich alluvial flats of the Hunter and Paterson Rivers and a rich agricultural hinterland. The main industry sectors include manufacturing, construction, real estate, mining and retail trade.
